Program/Service Notes:
The Rental Assistance Program is designed to help homeless households obtain housing and near-homeless households retain housing. Services include information and referral, assistance with landlord negotiations, and housing counseling. Eligibility includes income below poverty guidelines, an adequate steady income available to pay future rent, not having received rent assistance from the program in 24 months, rent and utilities combined do not exceed two-thirds of income or homelessness or near-homelessness. There is no assistance with past-due rent for people in subsidized housing, and there is no assistance for rental deposits.
